Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)
2003-05-06: A B737 Canjet 143 had departed Halifax en route to Dorval. About 20 nautical miles northwest of Halifax the aircraft anounced it was returning due to a hydraulic problem. No assistance was required. The aircraft landed safely on Runway 15 in Halifax at 1149Z.
2003-05-22: Update - Maintenance and Manufacturing - Aircraft C-FGCJ, turned back due to a hydraulic problem on 5 May 03. The problem was found to be attributed to an incorrect switch selection. Specifically, the Flight Control 'A' system switch was found in the 'Standby Rudder' position apparently selected during the Pilot's pre-flight and not placed back to the 'A' on (normal) position. Switch was selected to on and system functioned serviceable. Operations department advised of the finding and are handling the apparent procedural error.
