Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2003-04-22: GGYW, an American AA5 Traveler departed Runway 15 for circuits at 2054Z and accidentally activated his ELT (121.5). At first just a short burst was observed. Moncton ACC was advised. The pilot informed the Fredericton FSS that he had reset his ELT. While the aircraft was in the circuit pattern an ELT was still audible in the background when the pilot transmitted on 119.0. The pilot was advised and the aircraft landed on Runway 15 for the full stop at 2107Z. At 2111Z while aircraft was in his parking position on the apron, his ELT was activated again on 121.5. This went on for the next 8 minutes from 2111Z till 2119Z. Moncton ACC and RCC Halifax were advised.
