Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

Summary

2003-04-17: An Air Transat L1011, which was bound for Puerto Plata had just pushed back for departure from St. John's. A ground handler noticed that smoke was smoldering from the rubber covering on the Boarding Gate. CFR personnel reported the suspected cause was something on the L1011 which was in contact with the rubber had caused it to smoke. The aircraft was advised and responded that it may have been the result of a wing light being inadvertently left illuminated while at the gate.
