Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)
2003-04-07: Update - Maintenance and Manufacturing - Wed 4/2/2003 - Ref:CADOR 2003A0195 In regards to the above mentioned incident on March 31/03 for aircraft C-GJIG Fin # 826 enroute From Halifax(YHZ)to Boston(KBOS)requested a return to Halifax(YHZ)due to a 'Minor Snag'. The Crew reported to Maintenance Control that at 8500 ft the #1 Torque Indication went to 12%, Both analog and digital C/B were reset and no fix was noted. They were 30 Nautical Miles west of Halifax(YHZ),the crew and Maintenance Control elected to return the aircraft to Halifax. The aircraft was met by Maintenance and towed back to the Hangar where they determined the Torque Indicator unit P/N SEDL-OC2P was at fault. They changed the unit and the system was ground checked serviceable, the aircraft was then returned to service on Journey Log Pt 2 Page# 270618 dated March 31/03. While taxing the aircraft back over to the gate for repositioning, the Torque Indication went bad once again the aircraft was taken back to the Hangar where they changed the Torque Sensor unit P/N 3111978-01 on the #1 engine to no avail the indicator was removed from the Rack. The rack was adjusted, the indicator was re-installed and extensive engine runs carried out with no further problems. The system was ground checked serviceable and the aircraft was returned to service on Journey Log Pt 2 Page# 270619 dated March 31/03.
2003-04-01: JZA8859 a DHC8 enroute from Halifax to Boston requested a return to Halifax due to a minor snag. The aircraft was 30 nautical miles west of Halifax. No assistance was required and the aircraft landed safely at 2204Z. AFF was in standby position.
