Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

2003-03-31: Update Maintenance and Manufacturing - C-GONX Fin # 829 enroute From Halifax(YHZ)to Gander(YQX)requested a return to Halifax(YHZ)due to a Flap Drive Caution Indication. The Crew reported to Maintenance Control(MCON) that while in level cruise at Fl240 just north west of Sydney(YQY) the Flap Drive Caution light came on,the crew and MCON elected to return to YHZ. Maintenance met the aircraft and towed it back to the Hangar where they determined the Torque Sensor unit was at fault. They changed the unit and the system was ground checked serviceable, the aircraft was then returned to service
2003-03-25: A DHC8 reported a minor flap problem while in cruise en route from Halifax to Gander. The aircraft was 25 nautical miles North West of Sydney at 0210Z when it reported the problem and requested a diversion to Halifax. No assistance was required and the aircraft landed in Halifax at 0247Z. TSB - NIL
