Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2003-03-10: At 1745Z, the student pilot of a Cessna 172 became disoriented, and required assistance to locate the Fredericton airport. The Aircraft was 30 miles ENE of Fredericton. The Fredericton FSS provided assistance. The Aircraft landed safely in Fredericton at 1811Z. The weather was reported to be VFR.
2003-03-28: Update - 2003/03/28 - Student became lost on first solo flight into practice area. 3 dual flights had been done into practice area working on forced approaches and precautionary landings (no review of pre-solo exercises). The Flight school will concentrate more effort on use of the training syllabus from now on, and the next dual flight with this student will focus on orientation to and from the practice area.
