2003-02-20: Update - 2003/02/20 - Aircraft Type
2003-03-10: Update - General Aviation - The amateur built Lancair skidded off Runway 27 during departure at the Miramichi Airport. According to the Owner, unknown to him, the rudder cable on the right side had frozen in its tubing. The Lancair is a high performance aircraft which develops high torque during its take-off roll. Due to this high torque he was unable to keep the aircraft straight. Runway conditions at the time were poor; he estimated 80% ice patches. The aircraft steering system uses differential brakes and a castering nose wheel. The brakes could not prevent the aircraft from yawing left and the aircraft lost directional control.
