2003-02-18: TSB Investigation A03A0012: CJA184, a Boeing 737-200, en route from Ottawa to Halifax, was landing at Halifax on Runway 15 and, after touchdown, the aircraft drifted to the left side of the runway. Rudder, brake and steering were applied without effect, and the aircraft continued to drift. Asymmetric reverse thrust was then used and the drift was arrested; however, before directional control was fully re-gained, the aircraft struck a runway edge light. Upon inspection, maintenance personnel discovered small indentations in the fuselage, possibly from shattered debris from the runway light. All four main landing gear tires were replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The aircraft has been returned to service. The last runway surface condition report issued approximately three hours prior to landing was 100 percent bare and wet on a 180 foot centerline. Surface wind was reported at 190 magnetic at 12 gust 19 knots. The OAT was 3 degrees C.
