Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ) (Other operational incident)

Summary

2003-02-03: JAZZ Chief Duty Dispatcher called to report a complete electrical failure at the JAZZ Dispatch Office in Halifax. Further requested that all JAZZ flights not airborne remain on the ground, with those in the air continuing to destination. Then requested Nav Canada's assistance in advising all ACC's of the situation. Contact name and number available from Toronto Shift Manager 905.676.4509. All Nav Can ACC's (& Ottawa TCU) and FAA ATCSCC were advised. At 0458Z the JAZZ Chief Duty Dispatcher reported that systems were functional in Halifax and operations returning to normal. Requested that all ACC's be advised. Message passed as above.
2003-02-11: Update Commercial and Business Aviation February 10, 2003. Procedures are being put in place to alert the SOC Facilities staff when the backup generator is operating and company is reviewing fuel low indicate(s) that may alert staff sooner that the fuel is at a critical level.
