Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2003-01-21: A Cessna 172 enroute VFR from Shearwater was conducting a touch and go landing on Runway 29 in Moncton. After touching down, the aircraft's engine quit. The engine was restarted and then the aircraft taxied off the runway at 2358Z. A Boeing 737 was delayed for approximately 3 minutes. The C172 later departed enroute to Shearwater at 0005Z. 2003-02-20: Update from General Aviation - There was No Winterization kit installed for this flight. The kits were installed after the incident in Moncton. The temperatures at the Departure airport Shearwater on the day of the flight were above 20 degrees F, or the temp at which Cessna recommends that the winter kit be installed. It's not clear why no one considered that the temp at the destination might be BELOW 20 deg.
