Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)
2001-10-12: The pilot of C-GIIK, a Cessna 172RG, was on approach at Calgary when he reported an unsafe nose gear indication. Emergency services was called out and were on standby as the aircraft landed safely on Runway 16 at 1523Z. The cause of the unsafe indication is not known.
2001-10-18: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the PRM at Westpoint offered the following: the pilot in command misinterpreted the landing gear warning light indication system. He mistakenly thought the amber light meant gear unsafe. On gear down selection, all three gear indicated 'green'. The gear indication system was determined to be operating normally. The pilot was advised to consult the POH prior to initiating an emergency response.
