Incident at RANKIN INLET NU (CYRT)

Summary

2001-10-09: A South-African registered Beech Baron 58, ZS-NBU, was observed in the circuit for Runway 31 at Rankin Inlet but no communications had been established with FSS. The FSS operator tried several times on the mandatory frequency to establish contact but received no reply. After the aircraft had landed and was taxiing in, contact was made because the pilot needed fuel. When questioned about his lack of following proper communications procedures, the pilot advised he had the wrong frequency and had just received the right one from Arctic Radio.
