Incident at FORT SIMPSON ISLAND NT (CET4)

Summary

2001-09-12: The pilot of C-GQOA, a Cessna 206, contacted the Fort Simpson CARS at 2230Z inbound to Fort Simpson Island (CET4). C-GQOA landed at 2238Z. After landing, the pilot advised Yellowknife FSS that at 0815 local, while outbound he was provided with a NOTAM restricting air traffic until 1600Z. He indicated that he was not aware that the NOTAM had been extended. The pilot also advised that another company aircraft, C-GTUG was also inbound to CET4 and the pilot of that aircraft was also unaware of the NOTAM extension.
