Incident at DAWSON CITY YT (CYDA)

Summary

2001-09-07: Whitehorse FSS reported that N2978C, a Cessna 180, was on a VFR flight plan to Dawson, YT and did not call to close the flight plan, as expected after the ETA expired. RCC Trenton and Comox as well as CASARA and the RCMP were advised and a search begun. A Canadian Forces Buffalo from CFB Comox and 2 a/c from the CASARA group were tasked to conduct the search. The a/c was eventually located by the RCMP at another airstrip in the Yukon. The pilot had deviated from the original flight plan and did not go to Dawson, then did not close the flight plan.
