Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)

Summary

2001-09-07: PAG 101, a Metro II, departed from Runway 18 at Winnipeg for Island Lake. The crew reported that they suspected the brakes had locked and conducted a fly by of the Tower. The crew elected to return and landed safely on Runway 18 without further incident. One company flight received a minor inconvenience as a result.
2001-09-10: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that on takeoff from YWG the Captain reported that he suspected the brakes where dragging, He indicated the aircraft seemed to accelerate as it became airborne. (The First Officer was conducting the take-off.) The Captain chose to return, requesting the fire trucks to stand by. The landing and taxi to the ramp were uneventful. A subsequent inspection could reveal no fault, and there was no evidence of dragging brakes or signs of overheating. The aircraft was returned to service.
