Incident at THOMPSON MB (CYTH) (Conflict - potential, Alleged Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) infraction)
2001-09-04: At approximately 1500Z, the Thompson FSS Duty Specialist was providing advisory services to 2 aircraft when he spotted what appeared (through binoculars) to be an unknown aircraft in close proximity. It turned out to be a radio-controlled model aircraft, that was being flown in a gravel pit which is located near the airport. Airport Security was sent to deal with the situation. The use of these models in close proximity to the airport appears to violate the CARS.
