Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC) (ATM - NAVAIDS/radar)
2001-09-10: UPDATE ANS and Airspace reported that the computer mother-board was replaced and there have been no recurrences.
2001-08-30: While undergoing routine maintenance, the radar at Calgary failed and was off the air for four minutes. The preliminary diagnosis was that the plot extractors had failed but after another test and a replacement of a circuit board, it was determined that one of the interrogators had a faulty control data board. The radar failed again at 1627Z because of this, and was off until 1646Z before it could be restored to service (one channel only). At 1738Z, the second channel was up and running as well. At 1909Z, the technicians tried another channel change to see if everything was OK, but the radar failed again and was off until 1913Z when it was restored to one channel operation. The control data board has been changed and another test is required later to determine if the problem has been fully rectified.
