Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)
2001-08-30: UPDATE TSB reported that ACA 165 was 50 NM east of Winnipeg en route for Edmonton when the flight experienced a low level warning for the green hydraulic system. After consulting the checklist, maintenance, and dispatch, it was decided that the flight would continue to Edmonton. Nearing Edmonton, the green hydraulic system pressure and quantity read zero. The cabin crew and passengers were briefed for an abnormal landing in Edmonton due to the requirement for a manual gear extension and the loss of nose wheel steering. An emergency was declared with AFF standing by for the landing. After the aircraft came to a stop on the runway, the engines were shut down, and the aircraft towed to the gate. Maintenance found the L/G safety valve 49GA leaking. Valve seals were replaced and a leak/function check performed. The aircraft was returned to service.
2001-08-27: ACA 165, an A320, landed without hydralics at Edmonton. The crew requested and was provided ERS. The runway was closed for 10 minutes and the aircraft was towed clear. TSB will follow up with the company.
