Incident at SWIFT CURRENT SK (CYYN)
2001-08-17: UPDATE TSB reported that the Regina Flying Club Cessna 172 was on power-line patrol between Regina and Swift Current, with a pilot and a utility company observer on board. About 4 nm east of Swift Current, the aircraft struck a power line running perpendicular to the main line under inspection. The pilot diverted the flight back to Regina and landed after an inspection of the landing gear by ground observers. The pilot and observer were not injured. The aircraft sustained damage to the propeller, spinner and cowling. A small grass fire ignited by the severed power line was extinguished by a nearby farmer.
2001-08-16: The pilot of C-GYVV was on power line patrol and reported that he may have struck a powerline 65 miles west of Regina. The pilot discontinued his patrol and flew back to Regina where an uneventful landing was accomplished. There was no major operational impact and it is believed that there was no damage to the aircraft.
