Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

Summary

2001-08-28: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the wildlife control officer (WCO) at YYC sent maintenance to check for remains of birds on the runway. Two dead pigeons were discovered, but they do not appear to have been involved in the strike. The WCO reports numerous juvenile crows and blackbird flocks gathering to feed near the airport before migration. Juvenile Swainson's Hawks have now fledged and are also in the area. Bird patrols continue.
2001-08-07: On approach to Runway 28 at Calgary, the crew of WJA 33 reported a bird strike at 400 feet above ground and elected to continue the approach. No damage reported and the aircraft landed safely.
