Accident at 25 NM W of GRANDE CACHE AB (CEQ5)

Summary

2001-08-01: UPDATE TSB reported that the Eurocopter AS 350 BA helicopter experienced low main rotor RPM and the aircraft then made contact with terrain, after which it rolled over. There were five passengers on board, one of which sustained minor injuries. The pilot was not injured. TSB continues to look into the cause of the loss of rotor RPM.
2001-07-31: The pilot of C-FVVH, an Aerospatiale AS 350 with 6 people on board, called Edmonton ACC to report that the helicopter had experienced an accident about 25 NM west of Grande Cache. The helicopter had been on a VFR flight from Grande Prairie to Grande Cache and back, when the pilot observed a loss of rotor RPM. During landing, the helicopter rolled onto its side. One passenger received a minor injury. The company dispatched another helicopter to pick up the occupants. TSB was advised and will be investigating.
