Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)
2001-08-01: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the flight diverted to YYC after losing all utility system 1 hydraulic fluid. Maintenance found the #1 hydraulic pump on the #1 engine at fault. The pump was replaced and the aircraft was returned to service. The repair shop report confirmed the shaft seal failed. This unit had 3,600 hours since repair (7,000 hour TBO overhaul).
2001-07-26: UPDATE TSB reported that ANR 8549, an F28 en route from Vancouver to Regina sustained a pump failure in the number one hydraulic system, which resulted in a complete loss of fluid. The crew diverted to Calgary, landed uneventfully on Runway 34 and exited the runway onto Taxiway C1. The landing gear was extended manually, and flaps and nosewheel steering were unserviceable. An emergency was not declared, however AFF responded as a precaution.
2001-07-23: ARN 8549, an F28, was enroute from Vancouver to Regina when the crew reported hydraulic problems and diverted to Calgary (YYC). The flight landed on Runway 34 at 0540Z and taxied clear onto Taxiway C1. Hydraulic fluid appeared to leaking from the aircraft. Two other arriving aircraft were assigned Runway 28. No other operational impact. TSB will be contacting the company.
