Incident at FORT MCMURRAY AB (CYMM)

Summary

2001-07-16: C-FYCO, an Aerospatiele 350 helicopter, was inbound to Fort McMurray from the VOR site and the pilot made numerous calls to the FSS, which were all received and responded to without a response from C-FYCO. The pilot did not broadcast his intentions, crossed Runway 07/25 and landed without further incident. No other traffic was affected. The pilot later called the FSS to report that he had switch problems.
2001-07-27: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the problem appeared to be a dirty microswith in the transmit button. The switch was removed and cleaned and re-installed. The problem has not recurred.
