Incident at INUVIK / MIKE ZUBKO NT (CYEV) (Rejected take-off, Conflict - potential)


2001-07-16: The crew of AKK 103, a Beech King Air, reported a 6 mile final for Runway 23 at Inuvik after an IFR flight from Norman Wells. The pilot of C-FBRN, a Piper Navajo, received a departure advisory with the traffic inbound for Runway 23. C-FBRN advised he would take an intersection departure at Taxiway Alpha, Runway 05. FSS requested and confirmed with C-FGRN that he had the traffic and proceeded onto the runway. FSS advised AKK 103 of the departing PA-31 on Runway 05. The pilot of C-FBRN then aborted his takeoff and cleared the runway onto Taxiway Delta. AKK 103 landed at 1856Z. C-FBRN departed Runway 05 at 1857Z and subsequently advised he thought the traffic was coming in behind him.
