Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

Summary

2001-06-18: NOTAM #118 shortens Runway 36 at Winnipeg International Airport due to construction at the intersection with Runway 31. At 2212Z, an Air Canada B737 landed on Runway 36 and the contractor expressed concerns over the low altitude over the work site. Tower also observed that the flight was very low over the site. The Winnipeg Airport Authority and Air Canada have been advised of the contractor's concerns. The contractor has decided that he will require his crew to exit the intersection for all future arrivals by Air Canada. The possible impact is a delay to the construction schedule.
