Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

Summary

2001-05-31: The City of Calgary Police Service's MD-500N helicopter had landed at Calgary International Airport and shut down on the cart in a northerly direction with the winds reported out of the west at 25 gusting 30 knots. As the rotor rpm fell through 10-15%, a gust of wind caused one of the main rotor blades to contact the top of the composite tail boom causing an small area of material to delaminate. There was no main rotor damage. The tail boom has been removed and is being sent back to the manufacturer for repairs.
