Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG) (ATM - other)
2001-05-11: At 0013Z, the Winnipeg ACC fire alarms were triggered. Checks by the TOC and the building Commissionaire found no evidence of fire. The alarms were silenced at 0015Z. At 0018Z, the Winnipeg Fire Department arrived on scene and again did a walk-around of areas indicated on the alarm panels. No smoke or fire were detected. At 0035Z, the firemen left the building, but recommended walk-abouts until the system could be re-set. At 0049Z, TOC advised Protelic (the security company monitoring for fire alarms) that this was a false alarm and that Grinnel (the company installing a new fire protection system) was sending a technician to re-set the system. At 0142Z, the Grinnel technician arrived and advised Protelic he was on site and the alarms were off-line. At 0154Z, the Grinnel technician had disabled the faulty device, re-enabled the system and informed Protelic the system is back in service.
