Accident at LLOYDMINSTER AB (CYLL)

Summary

2001-05-07: Upon landing on Runway 07 at Lloydminster, the pilot of C-GNQA, a Luscombe 8E, lost control of the a/c and did a ground-loop, causing the right main gear to collapse. The gear, propeller and a wing sustained damage. There were no injuries to the 2 occupants, but the runway was Notamed closed for a couple of hours to allow for the removal of the aircraft. TSB was notified and authorized the removal. The a/c had a relatively new STC-approved Maule tailwheel assembly installed and the pilot maintained that the tailwheel shimmied after touchdown. This was his third landing after maintenance. Wind was 3 knots.
