Incident at EDMONTON / VILLENEUVE AB (CZVL) (Incursion - runway - animal)

Summary

2001-05-11: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the Environmental Assistant from Edmonton Airports (EA) reported the following: ""It appears that when Nav Canada gave the landing clearance, no moose were in the vecinity. On short final, three moose crossed the runway. Nav Canada saw them as they entered the bush on the other side of the runway. The pilot rejected the landing. EA has a bird and wildlife program at Villeneuve airport. EA will re-iterate the local contact`s pager number and confirm with Nav Canada the requirement to contact Villeneuve airport personel when birds or wildlife is a concern. No further action required.
2001-03-26: The pilot of C-GMGF, a Cessna 152, was cleared for a touch and go at Villeneuve. The aircraft was on short final when the pilot initated an overshoot because 3 lost moose crossed the runway. The flight continued without further incident.
