Incident at 67 North and 60 West (ATM - other)
2001-03-13: Estimates had been passed by Iceland ATC to Edmonton ACC on BAW 2289 for 67/60 of 1545Z, FL 330 and UAl 961 for 67/60 for 67/60 of 1552Z, FL 350. Position reports had BAW 2289 go by 67/60 at FL 340 and UAL 961 at FL 350. Iceland claimed they were unable to make contact with BAW 2289 and clear it down to FL 330 before it crossed our FIR. In this area, Edmonton ACC requirements are either 2,000 feet vertical or at least 10 minutes longitudinal when only 1,000 feet vertical and 8 minutes longitudinal existed.
2001-03-23: UPDATE ANS and Airspace reported that position reports had BAW 2289 go by 67/60 at FL 340 and UAL 961 at FL 350. Iceland ATC claimed they were unable to contact the crew of BAW 2289 with clearance to the required FL 330 before the flight crossed our FIR. The result was eight minutes longitudinal separation and one thousand feet vertical. The required separation is two thousand feet vertical or ten minutes longitudinal. This AOR was forwarded to Head Office ATS Oceanic. No Fact Finding Board is anticipated.
