Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)

Summary

2001-02-27: When the DeHavilland Dash 8 flight crew selected gear down, the left main landing gear did not extend. The crew completed an alternate extension and the aircraft landed without further incident. ERS was not requested. It is believed that the left main landing gear door did not open, and that the left main gear fell against the closed door when the gear was initally selected down. Maintenance examination determined that the left aft gear door actuator was leaking internally and bypassing. The left aft gear door actuator was changed and the aircraft was returned to service.
