Accident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)
2001-11-13: TSB Update Nov 13, 2001. A01A0136: The student pilot was on a solo flight doing circuits on runway 22 at Gander, NF in a C172K, C-FYAH. On the fifth or sixth touch-and-go, as he applied power for the takeoff, the aircraft veered sharply left and he lost control. Initially, he reduced the power and then decided he should continue the takeoff. The power was reapplied and aircraft became airborne; he then reconsidered this decision and reduced the power again. The aircraft touched down and came to rest approximately 400 feet to the left side of the runway. The pilot was uninjured; the aircraft, however, was substantially damaged.
2001-11-13: CFYAH a C172 did a touch and go on Runway 22 and on the go the pilot lost control and the aircraft crashed on the side of the Runway. There were no injuries and the extent of damage is unknown. TSB Case closed with more to follow.
2001-12-03: Update Nov 28, 2001. General Avialtion. The PIC was a student pilot. The CFI reviewed the incident and no training deficiencies were identified. The PIC received additional ground and dual flight training from a senior instructor. No further follow up action was required by MART.
