Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT) (ATM - other)


2001-07-20: N5709T C172 enroute Colville Lake area of Newfoundland Flight plan indicated aircraft was overdue at 0600z on July 19th. Halifax search and rescue were advised and a rescue crew were called in. A subsequent review of the audio tapes revealed that the flight intended to land, and call in the morning with the arrival time. The rescue crew was released. At 1250z the pilot closed the flight plan. Events indicate that there was confusion between the aircraft and St. John's FSS regarding closure of the flight plan. Nil TSB
