Incident at Gander Oceanic


2001-07-16: DLH402 B747 200 enroute from EDDF to KEWR on track advised of medical emergency and requested a diversion to BIKF . Gander OAC was unable to issue an ATC clerance due to traffic and advised that Fl290 was open . The pilot carried out contingency procedures and decended to FL290 and then was cleared direct BIKF , ETA BIKF 1752Z. While enroute to BIKF , with 3 doctors attending , the patient recovered and at 1630 Z pilot requested enroute clearance back to KEWR . Nil TSB.
