Accident at EXPLOITS VALLEY (BOTWOOD) NL (CCP2)

Summary

2001-07-10: A01A0070: According to reports, at approximately 11:12 NDT the British pilot of ultralight aircraft G-ZBUM, a MainAir Blade 912, attempted to takeoff from Exploits airfield in Botwood Newfoundland for Shannon, Ireland. Apparently, the aircraft was substantially damaged during the takeoff attempt; however there was no reported injury to the pilot. When reports of the accident were eventually received by TC, the RCMP were dispatched to the airport; however the aircraft and pilot have not been located. It is believed that the pilot has disassembled and relocated his aircraft.
