Incident at SAINT JOHN NB (CYSJ)

Summary

2001-05-15: TSB File A01A0037: The Fokker F-28 was at the gate and had just started the engines when smoke started to enter the cockpit. The crew secured the engines and a rapid passenger disembarkation was carried out via the main cabin door. The smoke dissipated after engine shutdown. Maintenance determined that the source of the smoke was from the #3 generator control unit (GCU) when it was selected to the "" on"" position. The #3 GCU was placarded ""unserviceable"" and the aircraft was dispatched under the MEL.
