Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)


2001-05-01: SPR928 SW4 landing on runway 34 in St. John's from Deer Lake ,reported smoke in the cockpit while taxiing on ""Golf"" to the ramp. Passengers and crew evacuated the aircraft at the intersection of taxiway ""Golf"" and the apron and CFR responded. After inspection, the aircraft was towed to the hanger. TSB Update : A01A0043: SPR928, a Swearingen SW4 (C-GERW) had landed on Runway 34 at CYYT after a flight from Deer Lake. While taxiing in Golf taxiway to the ramp the crew reported smoke in the cockpit. The aircraft was shutdown, and passengers and crew evacuated the aircraft at the intersection of taxiway Golf and the apron. ERS responded, the aircraft was inspected, and no evidence of fire or heat damage was discovered. The operator reports that a cooling turbine in the air conditioning unit had failed, resulting in the circulation of uncooled bleed air and a hot smell. The operator has indicated that they will submit an SDR to Transport Canada
