Incident at CHARLOTTETOWN AIRPORT

Summary

2001-03-29: CME302 PA31 aborted takeoff Runway21 at Charlottetown due to a vibration in the aircraft. Crew advised they would taxi off the runway and across the main apron back to their hanger for assessment. Aircraft shut down on Taxiway A where it was met by an Airport Authority maintenance vehicle and company tug which towed the aircraft the remaining distance to the hanger. A field inspection by Airport Authority personnel found a metal nut on the centerline of Runway21. Prince Edward Air staff called to say that the bolt and pin assembly on the nose gear scissor steering were missing, thus the cause of the vibration. A replacement was installed and aircraft departed uneventfully at 0000z Mar.29. Subsequent field inspection by Airport maintenance found no other FOD. No other aircraft inconvenienced. Nil TSB
