Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT) (Fuel - spill)

Summary

2001-03-12: St. John´s Airport Major fuel spill, Irving ramp. Fuel spill is being cleaned up by contractor. Spill was required to be controlled in a river system, at airport drainage system points and on the Irving property. Cause of failure, lost load numbers, vehicle last fill numbers and confirmation of clean up will be part of the Irving report to follow. Non-controllable leak was discovered under an 18,500-liter tanker. ERS responded and assisted with ramp containment at the request of the duty supervisor. Irving. Five staff, two light vehicles and two front-end loaders utilized. Nil TSB
