Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)
2001-03-07: TSB Update Mar 6, 2001. A01A0016: The Provincial Airlines SW4 Metroliner, SPR922, Registratio C-FITW, was landing on Rwy 16 after a flight from Gander to St. John´s when the crew observed a fire warning indication for the left engine. The aircraft was immediately stopped on the runway and as a precaution all occupants were evacuated. No smoke or fire was observed by the tower or ERS. The passengers were transported to the terminal a short time later by the airport bus. Maintenance reported the fire warning was due to a bleed air gasket failure which resulted in hot bleed air being directed toward one of the engine fire detectors; there was no fire present at any time. The gasket was replaced and the aircraft returned to service.
2001-03-07: SPR922 SW4 landing runway 16 St.John´s pilot reported Fire Warning indication on left engine. Aircraft brought to immediate stop on runway and evacuated. Tower did not observe any smoke or fire. Seven (7) souls on board. TSB Case Closed with more info to follow.
