Incident at STEPHENVILLE NL (CYJT)

Summary

2001-02-23: SPR916 SW4 flight planning from Stephenville to St. John´s, taxied onto runway 27 in Stephenville. After a delay due to the weather, the pilot reported that the brakes were frozen and suspected a blown tire as a result. Airport trucks provided assistance and the aircraft was towed onto taxiway ""B"" which was closed for the night with a voice advisory issued. NIL TSB
2001-03-19: Update Maintenance and Manufacturing Mar 19, 2001. 3 scuffed tires due frozen brakes. Blowing snow and heavy drifting was occurring at the time of the incident. Engineer was dispatched and inspection of the four brake assemblies showed no defects other than ice accumulation. All four main wheels and tires were replaced. Wheel bearings replaced. Taxi and braking checks carried out fault free - aircraft returned to service.
