Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

Summary

2001-01-22: TSB Update A01A0006: The Air Tours International Airbus 330 reported a medical emergency due to a passenger possibly suffering a heart attack. The aircraft began a descent into St. John´s and commenced dumping fuel. The aircraft landed safely on RWY 29 at 04:34 NDT. While taxing and attempting to turn for backtrack the aircraft manoeuvred too far left on the turn around bay and could not proceed further to complete the turn. Airport service vehicles escorted the ambulance to the aircraft where the passenger was removed then transported to hospital. A tug was then used to turn the aircraft around the aircraft then powered up and taxied to the terminal ramp. At the ramp the aircraft was re-fueled and cleared to taxi, via the Golf taxiway, for departure. During taxi from the ramp the aircraft experienced difficulty making the turn onto Golf and ended up with the nose wheel and left main wheel in close proximity to the edge of the taxiway. A tug was use in an attempt to push the aircraft back to the center of the taxiway while the engines were running. However, the slippery conditions made the push-back attempt difficult and potentially hazardous to aircraft and ground crew. The engines were shutdown and the aircraft was successfully towed back the terminal ramp
