Incident at Fredericton


2000-06-09: CME501 PA31 departed Fredericton for St. Leonard, reported gear indication light "on" after takeoff. Crew then requested a fly by to determine position of gear. FSS reported that all gears were fully up except for one main gear that was only retracted to 45 degrees. Pilot advised that intentions were to proceed to destination at reduce speed without further assistance. Weather VFR. MAH Update: As indicated previously, the crew elected to fly on to St. Leonard and maintenance only learned about the incident afterward. A ferry flight permit was obtained to enable ferrying the aircraft back to Moncton. Aircraft was inspected by maintenance personnel before the " Gear down " ferry flight. Upon arrival in Moncton, aircraft was placed on jacks and the gear recycled a number of times without any discrepancies being noted. Aircraft was subsequently released to service . Maintenance suspect an intermittent gear door & will be monitoring same. NIL TSB
