Incident at 50 SE St.John's (CYYT)


2000-04-26: CHI32 AS32 departed St. John's at 1446Z IFR for Hibernia. Approximately 50 NM SE of St. John's the aircraft requested clearance to return to Airport due to Gear Light indicator problem. Aircraft cancelled IFR at 1522Z and landed safely at 1541Z. No traffic in vicinity and no assistance required. Nil TSB Update: TSB Case Closed TSB file # A00A0069 Update: The Main Gearbox chip detector was removed for examination and two small metal particles were found. The Main Gearbox oil filter was removed and examined, (no metal was found) and replaced with a serviceable filter. The aircraft was then hover checked, as per the maintenance manual, for thirty minutes. No further metal was found. Aircraft was released for return to service and has flown 23.8 hours since this without incident.
