Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

2000-03-28: ARN883 BA146 IFR Flight from Moncton (CYQM) to Montreal Intl (Dorval) (CYUL). Shut down #4 engine 40nm west of Moncton and diverted to Halifax. Pilot requested "ERS" at Halifax. TSB case Closed TSB file # A00A0048 Update: The ALF502-5RA engine was removed and company maintenance are inspecting for damage. More info to follow when teardown is complete. Update Maintenance and manufacturing; After departure out of Moncton, The flt crew experienced a significant vibration from the #4 engine. They pulled the power back & the vibration level changed, the TGT then started to climb, so the engine was shut down. The a/c diverted to Halifax. On inspection it was discovered that there was a turbine blade rupture. No trend or other issues identified by maintenance.
