Incident at Moncton

Summary

2000-03-23: ARN587 DH8A enroute Halifax to Moncton, advised of # 1 engine shutdown and requested CFR to standby. Aircraft landed with no further incident. TSB case closed. TSB file # A00A0043 Update. Approx. 15 miles from landing #1 engine spooled down. Crew attempted a start, but were unable. Initial maintenance investigation found an internal spur gear failure (teeth missing). Engine to be shipped to Pratt for repair and overhaul.
