Incident at Botwood NF

Summary

2000-02-24: CGGXO C150 was on a round robin from Gander to Exploits back to Gander with ETA of 1225z. When the aircraft failed to arrive a Communications Search was conducted which determined that the aircraft made a Forced Landing on the highway at Botwood. The RCMP confirmed that the aircraft had landed about 500 metres South of the Botwood Aerodrome. No damage to the aircraft and nil injuries. 1 SOB. RCMP and some personnel from the Flying Club pushed the aircraft to the Aerodrome where it is secured. TSB Case Closed with more to follow. Update from Maintenance and Manufacturing: Maintenance inspected aircraft and engine. No abnormalities detected. Aircraft released for test flight & returned to service. Suspect engine handling procedures by student pilot on final approach to Botwood caused engine malfunction.
