Incident at Moncton (Aerodrome - other)

Summary

2000-03-03: Airport Staff 26 vehicle was instructed to proceed to taxiway Alfa and hold short of runway 29 in Moncton. Vehicle was later observed on runway 29 and shortly vacated in Taxiway Bravo. No aircraft involved. Early that same morning, airport Staff 26 vehicle proceeded to taxiway Delta with instruction to hold short of runway 29, with DASH 8 on final. It appeared to the contoller that the vehicle was not going to stop therefore controller again instructed to hold short of runway 29. Vehicle's front wheels had locked up and the vehicle slid to a stop off the runway. Nil tsb Update: Greater Moncton Airport personnel plan to meet with ATC operations to discuss the incident. Airport Operations will be requesting assistance of Tower personnel in refamiliarization sessions , i.e. radio procedures, runway famil. The issue will be discussed with the staff on duty that day. Tower Manager advised that such incidents are rare at this airport however he has been in contact with the Greater Moncton Airport personnel and will provide assistance, where possible, with respect to refamiliarization, etc. He stated that there is good communications between the tower staff and the Greater Moncton Airport personnel and is satisifed that the staff will be reminded of the need to ensure correct radio procedures are to be adhered to at all times.
