Incident at Wabush NF


2000-02-16: 2000A0048. An Air Consol de-icing truck struck ARN829 DH8 parked on ramp at Wabush. Windshield was damaged on the de-icing vehicle and aircraft sustained a small hole in the rear fuselage of the aircraft. TSB case closed with more information to follow. Update: Transport Canada plans to address Ramp Safety issues in Safety Promotional visits to Regional Airports. TSB file # A00A0010 Maintenance Update: Aircraft was struck by de-ice truck and sustained a small hole and a few other small dents. Maintenance inspected the aircraft and found no structural damage and did an unpressurized ferry flight to Halifax base for repair. Repaired without problems as per manufacturer's repair drawing. TSB Update: Ramp conditions at the time were 30 percent Bare and Dry with 70 percent Snow Drifts 2 inches deep.
