Incident at Charlottetown PEI


2000-02-09: CFVHR C150 departed Charlottetown for a local VFR flight 1748z. Last contact with the aircraft was made outside the Mandatory Frequency area to the South East heading to the North shore 1805z. At 1823z CFVHR was observed by the FSS taxiing on runway 21 then exited on Taxiway "A". No radio contavct was made with the aircraft since 1805z. The pilot stated that when airbourne, there was Smoke in the cockpit and the radio circuit breaker popped. The pilot shut off the master switch and returned to Charlottetown NORDO. NIL TSB Update: In addition to the popped circuit breaker, maintenance discovered several burnt light bulbs & fuses. The shielding on a wire at the voltage regulator had arced/shorted to the positive terminal which they believe caused an overvoltage.
